August 31, 2007Does anyone know how to get the center console trim off? Its the piece around the radio. I have been pulling on it and I am afraid it will break before I get if off.
August 31, 2007Not sure on an '06. Up to '05, you pried out the window switches, that exposed a screw. Took the screw out & the you pulled the trim off.
August 31, 2007There are 2 Phillips screws in the two vents at the bottom of each one
September 1, 2007Thanks Dave, I got that off. Any ideas on the other trim pieces? Airbag and gauge trims.
September 2, 2007you haft to remove the dash pad to get them off.
I just did this. Since you have the center console out, you now need to remove the two front pillar covers that run between the dash & the headliner, then the dash top, then lower the steering wheel & pull up & out on the instrument cluster after removing associated screws ( you may have to lower the kickplate under the steering wheel too. I did.). Some PT's you can remove the airbag cover as a separate unit ( DON'T Forget to unhook your neg. battery cable & your airbag fuses), some you have to remove the whole airbag & cover. Mine was the latter.
Most parts are metal push clipped in. You'll have a few connectors to separate as well. They're easy enough, just tricky to reach while holding the freshly painted cluster & NOT scratch something else . It's pretty straight forward once you get everything apart as to how it comes out/ goes back together...
September 3, 2007I got the pillars off but still need help with the dash top. I think it is just clipped in but where is the best place to pull/pry so I don't break anything.
September 3, 2007edit.......ooops!!
My options had me reading the posts in reverse order than I was used to (newest first) so I just reiterated what everyone else had said....
BTW, I just ordered some 3 1/2" Polk Audio speakers from Crutchfield and they are suppose to send me instructions on how to remove the dash cover. When I get them I will scan a copy of the dash removal and add it to my gallery
